Khadiga premiered at El Gouna Film Festival where it was nominated to a Golden Star in the Short Films Competition.
The film has also scored many other nominations for major awards at several festivals including Beirut Shorts International Film Festival (2021) and Carthage Film Festival (2021).
“Khadiga is a young 18-year-old mother living alone with her baby after her husband left for work in a remote city. One day, she makes her way through the hustle of Cairo streets to do some visits where she feels uncomfortable with the surroundings,” reads the film’s brief.
Morad Mostafa’s previous works have garnered him numerous awards. Among his most successful films are Ward’s Henna Party and What We Don’t Know About Mariam; both premiered at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival and won more than 30 international awards.
The third edition of Cairo Shorts Festival will take place between 21 and 26 December.
