Egyptian short film ‘Al Khad Al Akhar’ to compete at El Gouna Film Festival

Egyptian short film ‘Al Khad Al Akhar (The Other Cheek) is participating in the short film competition of the El Gouna Film Festival. The fourth edition of the festival is set to take place from October 23 to 31 in the Red Sea town of El Gouna.

The film follows an incident when Nashaat’s daughter is viciously attacked by his neighbours’ dog. He is aggrieved to hear claims that she provoked the attack. Unreconciled emotions lead to a heated confrontation with his ex-wife, leaving the cornered father with no choice but to take out frustrations on the perpetrator.

Canaan has worked as an assistant director on movies like Diamond Dust by Marwan Hamed and Resistance by Maurice Sweeney. Canaan has also shot multiple short films, many of which have participated in international film festivals.
