Thouraya

Thouraya is a girl from Upper Egypt trying to discover her identity and existence in a village dominated by fear, ignorance, and superstition. Her brother falls ill with a strange disease, and Thouraya attempts to work the land in his place, but her father refuses out of fear of the village traditions that reject this. The mayor exploits the father's helplessness and the son's illness, pressuring him to agree to excavate for Pharaonic artifacts on his land. Thouraya decides to take action to save her village and her brother, proving her existence instead of becoming a victim like all the girls who lost their lives during the excavation for artifacts, in order to defeat superstition and ignorance.
